On April 2nd, 600 young people marched 8 miles across London against the prospect of mass unemployment. Youth Fight for Jobs, which organised the demonstration, is now holding its launch conference on 9th May. It is taking place on May 9th at UCL, WC1E 6BT, central London from 10am to 4:30pm. Speakers will include Bob Crow, RMT General Secretary, Tracey Edwards, PCS young members’ organised, Lindsey Oil Refinery unofficial strike committee members, Greek Activists and more.

The march, organised by the Youth Fight for Jobs campaign, passed through the financial centre of London, through the boroughs of east London with high unemployment rates and ended at the ExCel Centre with young people from all over the country venting their anger at world leaders leaving the summit of the 20 richest countries.

Unemployment threatens to rise to 3.2 million by 2010. Young people will be hardest hit with hundreds of thousands of school leavers, college leavers and graduates who face trying to find work when there is a jobs massacre. The march for jobs demanded decent jobs and free education for all young people and that the bosses pass for the crisis they caused.
